Travelling to The Island

Red Funnel and Wightlink are the ferries servicing the Isle of Wight from the UK mainland. There are many car ferry crossings a day. They operate from Portsmouth to Fishbourne, Southampton to East Cowes, and Lymington to Yarmouth. Please visit the ferry websites to view timetables and prices. 

There are also fast  foot passenger crossings on  the Wightlink Fastcat from Portsmouth to Ryde (including the Hovercraft), and on the Red Funnel service Southampton to Cowes. It is possible to manage without a car on the Island as it has a very good bus/train network.

Buses run frequently, the No 8 bus runs from Ryde transport hub to the bottom of Sandown Bay Holiday Centre (you will need to walk up the hill to the park). 

The train runs from the top of Ryde Pier through to Sandown, but please be aware it would take around 30-40 minutes to walk to the Holiday Centre from the station. With luggage we would recommend a taxi.
